Let’s brainstorm some fun!

In this issue...

Happy Friday! Its a bit of a whirlwind here at I Cast…Brainstorm! HQ, (which is currently my car as I write this in a parking lot). I’m checking off a bucket list item next week and flying to Dublin for work, and this has been a killer of a week prepping for the trip.

Before I go, here are three new magic items that you can use as written, or develop into legendary versions. If you buff them, I’d love to see what you create!

Have a great week of gaming!

Three New Magic Weapons

I love a magic item that adds a little extra feature, and these also use the character’s Proficiency Bonus to scale in power over time.

The Mariner’s Hook

Weapon (sickle), very rare (requires attunement)

The Mariner’s Hook is+2 sickle. The blade has a brassy sheen, and the handle is simple carved ironwood, with a loop of silk rope attached to the end.

When attuned to this weapon, you gain +2 to attacks and damage rolls made with it, and you are granted a swim speed equal to double your move speed.

You may also cast the following spells a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, (regaining all uses each Long Rest):
Create or Destroy Water (1st level)
Water Breathing (3rd level)

The Mariner’s Hook was the weapon of the infamous Water Genasi Pirate named Ra’sellimm, who sailed the Sea of Fallen Stars on his ship the Sharkfin for fifty years. After his ship and crew were sunk off the coast of Aglarond by a kraken, pirate legends say Ra’sellim survived by swimming far below the surface, the magic of the Hook growing more powerful the farther into the ocean’s depths he swam.

Dagger of the Devil’s Own Luck

Weapon (dagger), very rare (requires attunement)

The blade of this dagger is obsidian, and the handle is wrapped with soft black leather.

When attuned to this weapon, you gain +2 to attacks and damage rolls made with it, and you gain Luck points as if you have the Lucky feat equal to your Proficiency bonus. These Luck points stack with the Lucky feat.

Highly sought after by rogues and assassins, a Dagger of the Devil’s Own Luck can turn a failed mission into a resounding success. Rumor has it the guildmaster of the Baldur’s Gate-based Thieves guild The Cryptic Clan owes her rise to top of that organization to just such a weapon.

Feystep Bow

Weapon (long or short bow), rare (requires attunement)

This mystical bow is carved with beautiful, intricate vines and leaves, and are highly prized even in the Feywilde.

When attuned to this weapon, you gain +2 to attacks and damage rolls made with it, and you gain the power to fey step as if you were a creature of the feywilde.

Fey step
As a bonus action, you may magically teleport yourself up to 30’ to an unoccupied space you can see.

You may use this power a number of times per Long Rest equal to your Proficiency Bonus. If you already have the ability to fey step when you attune to this weapon, the distance you may teleport increases to a maximum of 60’.
